Sharjah Fort (Al Hisn)
Sharjah Fort, which is also called Al Hisn, is a historic landmark built in 1823, located in the heart of Sharjah. It was Sharjah’s government headquarters and the residence of the ruling Al Qassimi family.
The Fort is a square-shaped construction, featuring a spacious yard in the middle. It consists of two main floors and three towers built for defensive purposes. When first built, it was considered the biggest and most important construction in Sharjah.
Once you step inside, you will get the opportunity to experience the modern history of Sharjah, learn about the ruling family, the history of the fort, the historic defense strategies, and Sharjah’s life 196 years ago.
